Self-Care Activities to Incorporate This Month

self care

With stress from school, work, family, and social life, we can all get very overwhelmed, especially if you are like me. Therefore, we need to take time out of our day for self-care.

Self-care is the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness during periods of stress. Here are some of my favorite self-care activities that I will be incorporating into my life, and feel free to steal my ideas for yourself!

  • Yoga

I have always been intrigued by the idea of yoga and even though I know I am awful at it, I want to try basic yoga routines as a way to unwind and destress after each day.

  • Journaling

Journaling is a great way to learn more about yourself and what is happening in your mind. It can help you with your mental health and it can help you destress. Some examples of journals I have incorporated into my life before are bullet journals, art journals, and regular diary-style journals.

  • Try making a new food

My family has been really into baking recently, and I have been learning a lot about the basics of baking from my mom. It has been super fun to bake simple recipes, like chocolate chip cookies, as a way to relax and forget about life’s stressors for a while.

  • Art

You don’t have to be artistically inclined in order to benefit from art. Whether it be creating an artistic masterpiece or simply coloring in a coloring book from the dollar store, art is a great way to destress and allow yourself to calm down.

  • Organize

This is a big one for me. Coming home to a messy and cluttered space really messes with my mental health. Reorganizing my desk, closet, or even my whole room (which I did a few days ago) helps clear my mind of different stressors. If you declutter your space, you declutter your mind.
