Is There a Hidden Message in Frank Ocean’s New Track?

After a long wait, the one-and-only Frank Ocean dropped a new single on October 19th titled, "DHL." As most of us are aware, the Blonde artist is well known for releasing music and disappearing for at least a decade (not an exaggeration). Fans, including me, are going insane. While creating masterpieces behind the scenes, he teaches fans that patience is key. Most Frank Ocean fans question if, and when, Frank plans to drop a new project. I've noticed a few lyrics in this new single that could hint at an upcoming album.

As the first verse begins, Frank blesses our ears with a chill, laid-back flow. While listening to the second verse, I couldn't help but wonder if the lyrics, "Old files just turned two, yeah it flew. Yeah, still sound like its comin' soon," suggest that he may be hiding an album from his fans. He continues to rap about various topics that range from jewelry, sex, and instances in which he paid for studio rates instead of his rent. Frank continues to the second verse with, "New files sittin' on my drive, nothin' new." Could it be that Frank has a few things up his sleeve? Oh, the anticipation!

As the chorus makes an appearance, Frank sings, "Just got a pack, came from the DHL." I was today-years-old when I learned that "DHL," also the title of this song, is actually an international shipping service. As the song finishes, he sings, "Got my partner in the front, been my BF for a month." Excuse me? An album, and a boo? I don't think the fans can handle this. The track is 4 minutes and 29 seconds long, but it's simply not enough! Frank is not giving the "gworls" (girls) what they need! Where is the album, Frank? Come outside, we just want to talk!
